This privacy policy covers the Stenografista desktop application and the stenografista.com website.
The desktop application runs entirely on your Mac. It makes no network connections after the initial model download. It collects no analytics, telemetry, or usage data of any kind.
Audio is captured, transcribed, and summarized entirely on your device. No audio data is transmitted to any server or third party. Audio files are temporary WAV files created during recording — they are merged into a final M4A file and can be deleted at any time.
Transcripts and summaries are saved as plain text files locally on your Mac, in a folder of your choosing. You have full control over these files and can delete them at any time. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
The app downloads ML model weights from HuggingFace on first use for speech recognition and text summarization. These are standard data files, not executable code. The download happens once; after that the app works fully offline. No user data — audio, transcripts, or anything else — is ever sent to HuggingFace or any other service.
We collect nothing. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no usage statistics. No account is required. No cloud service is used. After the one-time model download, the app never initiates a network connection.
No user data is shared with or accessible to any third party. All audio capture, speech recognition, and summarization happen locally using open-source models running on your hardware.
Stenografista is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the app collects no data from anyone, this is largely a formality.
When you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets the following cookies:
_ga — Distinguishes visitors. Expires after 2 years._ga_* — Maintains session state. Expires after 2 years.We use these cookies solely to understand how many people visit the website and which pages they view. We do not run advertising, retargeting, or any other form of tracking.
Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their <a href="https://policies.google.com/privacy">Privacy Policy</a>. No personal data is stored on our servers — we have none.
You can decline cookies when the banner appears — no cookies will be set and no data will be collected. If you previously accepted, click "Cookie settings" in the page footer to withdraw consent. This deletes all analytics cookies immediately.
