Install the app, grant two permissions, and you're done.
Install
Open the DMG, drag Stenografista to your Applications folder, then launch it. You'll see a new icon in your menu bar.
Approve on first launch
Stenografista is currently self-signed (Apple Developer notarization is in progress). On first launch, macOS will show "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified." To approve it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → scroll down → click Open Anyway next to the Stenografista message. You only need to do this once.
Grant Microphone access
macOS will prompt you automatically on first launch. Click Allow. If you missed it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → toggle Stenografista on.
Grant Screen & System Audio Recording
macOS will prompt for this too. Click Allow. If you missed it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording → toggle Stenografista on.
Pick a summary model (optional)
Click the menu bar icon and choose your preferred AI model. The default runs comfortably on any Apple Silicon Mac with 8 GB RAM. Larger models produce more detailed summaries if you have the RAM.
